Our family serving your family's legal needs for over fifty-five years. From estate planning to family law, we bring the steady judgment of two generations of Illinois attorneys to every matter we take on.

John G. Ames opened the firm's doors in 1965 and served as counsel for the Village of Orion for 50+ years. His daughter Stephanie has practiced alongside him for over two decades - carrying the same straightforward, client-first standard forward.

Ames Law Offices is located in Orion, Illinois, in Henry County. Our small hometown — mostly surrounded by corn and bean fields — has a population of approximately 1,800 people and in 2014 was rated the 7th safest town in Illinois.
Our schools are rated 9 out of 10 for academic performance, and school sports are the pride of the community. With classic small-town ideals, the team at Ames Law Offices prioritizes values and hospitality with every client interaction.
John Ames had a vision to run a firm that could help a family with the simplest of things, to the most complex. That vision has been realized daily, ever since.
John's core belief and goal is to be an agent for promoting justice for his clients — both legally and in the way he works with people. He has made sure to instill these qualities in the attorneys and staff of Ames Law Offices.
Stephanie Ames has practiced for almost 30 years; however, she has lived the law her entire life. With her father being an attorney, she grew up in the office she now works in. She believes in the law and in justice.
She believes it is up to the judicial system to utilize the law as a tool to achieve justice — and she believes in the best interests of children.
Three attorneys and a dedicated staff, all sharing one standard: clear communication, candid advice, and committed advocacy.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of the intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the beauty in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that one life has breathed easier because you lived here. This is to have succeeded.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
